Hi I’m Adrian and I’m the founder of Racing Driver School.
I first raced in the Caterham Academy back in 2011 at the age of 39, turning my love of cars and dream of one day racing them in to a reality. I also made some great friends along the way too.
I’ve driven in several race series, on tracks all across the UK, and at iconic places like Spa and the Nurburgring. I’ve driven cars as diverse as a FunCup car (it looks like a VW Beetle) and an LMP car, I’ve even tried my hand at rally driving a Nissan Micra in the Welsh forests.
But even with the support of Caterham and their proven method of taking somebody who’s driven fast cars on the road, loves a bit of go-karting and has even done trackdays, to one that can race with 20+ other people in a relatively safe and enjoyable way, I quickly realised that there was information I wanted and needed.
Some of this valuable information I was able to find online for free (but not much), some I had to pay for, hiring driver coaches, reading books and manuals, working with experienced race teams and using data and video. And other things I just learned the hard way – 1,000s of laps of testing, a bit of trial and error, a lot of watching what others did and trying it for myself and the odd trip or two across the run-off areas.
That brings me to this website, because with so many people asking me how I started off and progressed from being total novice to driving a car with “slicks and wings” capable of over 200mph, I decided I’d share what my racing friends and I have learned to do and not do along the way, so you, like me, can realise a dream and become a racing driver, and a fast one too.
